What a difference this was from my first labor and delivery. First baby had an 18 hour labor, and I pushed for 2 hours. This time labor was 5 1/2 hours with just 20 minutes of pushing! After a half hour of contractions ten minutes apart (starting at 2:30 am), contractions suddenly shortened to two minutes apart! When we got to triage I was 5cm dilated. I was happy because that meant I could get an epidural! Less than an hour after the epidural I was 9.5 cm dilated and ready to push. River was born after 20 minutes of pushing at 7:50 am: 9 lbs 9 oz and 22" long. Baby and mama are doing great!
