how soon?

Okay momma's. I got my BFP on Saturday (YAY!). It's the holiday weekend, so of course no doctors offices are open. However, I have been reading up & most people are saying they were told not to come in until 8 weeks? If I count from last period, I'm 5 weeks tomorrow (approx). I'm anxious to get to the doctors & have a blood test & ultrasound done to confirm, even though I've had 6 positive tests. But I'm just wondering when the rest of you went in for your first appointment? Were you told to wait until 8? I know there isn't a whole lot to see before 6, but I still would like to have blood work done & an ultrasound to see if things are at least progressing he way it should be. :)
