I'm 40+1 and my next appointment is Wednesday. People are telling me to ask for this. What is it? Does it help induce labor?

It will only work of your cervix is starting to get ready. However it is a natural way (without medicine intervention) of trying to get things started. I am going to have one as hopefully it will mean I dont have to be induced

Iv had 2 and they haven't worked, each body reacts differently. Hopefully if you get one it works for you 🙂

I had one on friday and had my 'bloody show' saturday and been more crampy since with increased mucosy doscharge (progress for me).. so maybe it will speed things up a little? I know people who have gone into labour hours after and then others its been weeks.. depends how ready your body is i guess? X

The doctor or midwife separates the bag of waters from the opening of the cervix and it's supposed to make your body produce oxytocin which causes contractions.
