What's an epidural like?

I absolutely HATE needles so I'm wondering which will be more painful, labor or epidural haha. Not that needles are that painful, but they wig me out bad!

What's the process? Is it very painful?

People with low pain tolerance like me - please answer 😂

I was very nervous because I have had a spinal tap before and that was very painful. The epidural was a breeze. All I felt was slight pressure and instantly better. The contractions were 100x worse in my opinion. I want to include the anesthesiologist who performed my epidural at all family gatherings and as a beneficiary on my will. It helped my labor that much.

In a huge wimp around needles. My three hour glucose test was actual torture. I got an epidural, and it was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. MY EXPERIENCE IS NOT TYPICAL. I have fucked up anatomy in my spine which made it excruciating. That said, the epidural is magical once it's in. 10/10 would have needles in my spine again.

I hate needles and I cried like a baby when I got an IV.. So you can tell my pain tolerance.
The epidural was easier than the contractions.
To be honest the epidural I couldn't feel at all. The numbing is what you feel but other than that you feel maybe a pinch of just a bit of pressure and that's about it.

I have a very low tolerance for pain and I don't even remember the epidural all I remember is those awful contractions. You should be more worried about those ! Lol

It stings like a bee sting at first then everything is numb and itchy. As long as you breath through it it doesn't hurt too bad.

I was really worried about it too but it's nothing. The IV in your arm hurts worse than the epi, I promise

I hate needles too. What helps me not panic is not to look at the needle. Multiple people have said the numbing shot is like a pinch, but then they put the epidural in and she didn't feel a thing, just the person pressing on their back

I don't recall it being really that painful! The contractions were over riding any other pain

I have very low pain tolerance I waited tell contractions where so bad I was in tears curled up I didn't even feel my epidural I had to ask if it was done lol it made things alot easier

I dont know if the spinal block for c sectiom is the same as epidural but for me the two experiences were awful. I dont remember it being painful at all but the sensation of when it hits he spinal nerve and your body kinda of tenses up was just ... Urghhh horrible because your under so much pressure to stay still but your body naturally just tenses.
