when to tell the children...

Hello Ladies,

When did you all announce to your other child(ren) that you were pregnant?? I am currently 6 weeks 1 day and not sure when to tell our 6 year old (my boyfriends son).

I told my 3 yr old right after I told my husband! Told him his brother or sister was in my belly and he ran over & kissed my belly and said "my baby"

Last year I had a missed miscarriage, we found out @ the 1st ultrasound @ 8 weeks, we had not told my 5 year old stepson I was pregnant & I was very glad I hadn't, I got pregnant again in May & this time @ the 1st ultrasound @ 7w2d there was a healthy heartbeat so we decided to tell him, we just said "Sometimes when babies r this small they're not able to stay, they might have a problem growing & have to go back up to heaven. We'll say lots of prayers for baby & hopefully he or she will grow up big & strong" I'll be 18 weeks on Sun. & so far everything is going great. He's super excited about his baby sister :)

After my 7w ultrasound.
We didn't tell them about the first pregnancy I lost the baby right at 6w.
My kids didn't understand why I would cry.
We made a decision to tell this time and we have been fortunate God has blessed is this far (16w Sunday) and my kids couldn't be anyone exited. We recorded it and that's how social media found out.

Well my daughter knows about one of her two siblings in heaven because we told her at 7+ weeks and then found out it was ectopic...i regret doing that to her. This time, we waited until we knew the baby's location and saw heartbeat.

I planned on telling my 2 sons (4 &10) when I was 12 weeks , but my mom took it upon her self to tell them way sooner.

We waited to tell our 4 until after our first Dr's appointment. After the appointment we went to dollar tree and got a few things that they would like and put it in a brown paper sack. When we got to the babysitter we gave them the bags and told them it was a gift from their new brother or sister

I would wait until you're into the second trimester... My mother had to deal with having a miscarriage (I was around 4 or 5) she not only had to deal with her and my dads heartbreak, but that of her 4 year old child who was super excited for a baby brother or sister.

I don't remember it, but can only imagine how hard it was trying to explain and then deal with.

Hopefully it doesn't happen to you, but it's just to be safe
