Is it worth getting your membranes stripped?

I've been having multiple people tell me that getting your membranes stripped isn't worth it because it's so painful.. That they'd rather just wait until their induction date or let it happen naturally. So I wanted to hear some personal opinions?

I was induced with first and membrane stripped with 2nd. Definitely worth it, especially if you're ready for your bundle! It is definitely uncomfortable, just like a cervix check but with more pressure. I went into labor a couple hours later. Much quicker than being induced and without gels or pitocin. Better choice in my opinion : )

I'm getting a sweep next week at 38 weeks. My doctor said it helps prevent overdue babies and prevents induction. You're full term at 38 weeks so it's worth it for me!

It was uncomfortable for me but not painful. At the time I didnt care I just wanted to get things going!

It didnt hurt any worse than a cervical check for me. I had mine swiped at 39 weeks for my first baby. I went into labor the next day

I'd go for a sweep over induction any day it's not painful it's uncomfortable but by the time you hit 40 weeks you'd go through the uncomfortableness just for the chance to meet bab I had 3 sweeps as part of my induction and it definitely does speed things up if your cervix is favourable 😊

I'm getting mines done for the first time next week. Honestly labor is painful anyways so might as well take the chance ..

I had it done in office n it does not hurt.

It's pretty uncomfortable but isn't painful. Labor is painful. My dr only does it if you're 2cm or more dilated.
