I just wanted to share my experience. I lost 130 lbs over the past 2 years and have virtually reversed my PCOS according to my fertility doc. I know that it is different for everyone but just wanted to say it is possible for some. I got off my birth control pills and had my first period on my own since the age of 15 (I'm 34). My insulin resistance is also 100% gone. I have had 3 regular cycles so far which has never, ever happened in my entire life, even when I was young and not overweight. My doc was even surprised...she did not think they would come back since I was not overweight when I was younger and they stopped. Fingers crossed it keeps up! I still have hair loss and hirsutism but it is much better than before. The dark patches of skin are also much lighter or gone all together.

Actually, the symptoms can completely vanish. It depends on the woman and her situation. Many overweight woman have PCOS (no offense to anyone, as I am one of them), and if said woman loses weight, works out, and eats very healthy- it may be as if she never had it.

Overweight women also have more trouble concieving. These things all go together.

So to answer your question- yes, for some.

Obviously if you are a runner and 5'3 and 120- your lifestyle isn't the issue. Some is genetics. But sometimes, you can persuade genetics in your favor.
