Pregnancy with irregular periods

So I have very bad irregular periods. My last period was almost 4 months ago. I've gone almost 6 months without a menstral cycle before. I've recently went to my doctor, and we are looking into solutions. My significant other and I would like to start a family soon, but haven't been having the best of luck, I think because of my irregular periods. Any advice is more than welcomed!!!
