Should I be keeping my 4 week old awake during the day???

I want her to sleep through the night 😩 I'm so tired. The problem is that I'm up all night with her and up all day with my two year old. When do I sleep!!!?? Ugh. I'm exhausted. Any advice on getting her to sleep?

I was having the same issue with my baby sleeping a lot during the day and not well at night so I was trying to limit naps to 2 hours and then wake him up. Well it wasn't really working and yesterday I let him sleep as long as he needed for naps and he slept   The best he has ever slept last night since being born! Try to hang in there! It'll get better!

I wake every 1-2hr to feed during the day starting at 8am. I let him long nap around 12.. but wake him after 3 hours to feed. Cat naps the rest of the day. No comfort sleeping during the day, meaning no swaddle, no bed, no darkness, no quiet. Talk to baby and interact with baby alot during the day. And at night I swaddle, feed(in quiet low light room. No talking, no interacting), burp, and feed til he falls asleep, around 10pm. Lay him slowly in his bed, tuck him in on top of his swaddle with a blanket and pacifier if he fusses. He sleeps til 3-4am, eats and sleeps til 8am. He's 4 weeks today and this routine has worked for me since week 1.

I would wake Bub every 3 hours for a feed during the day (so she's not catching up on feeds at night) and let her sleep where it's light during the day so she starts to work out her days and nights

This is a tough one.... Newborns can easily get overstimulated after being awake for too long! Which then makes sleeping almost impossible for them? Google some things like "is my newborn awake too long?".... I found some great articles that taught me to really pay attention to my babies signals that she's tired!

Babies actually sleep better the better the naps. If your toddler sleep take a nap then.

My 2 week old sleeps all day and all night! I wake him every 3.5 hours to eat and he eats in between 3-4 oz each feeding. He may be awake a total of 3-4 hours all day and night. He usually is asleep by 10pm and only wakes to eat (usually I have to wake him)

On the day, after a feed I try and stimulate baby as much as possible for playtime. We play tickle, have tummy time, I rattle bright toys in front of her and sing and dance with her. The moment I catch sleepy cues, I swaddle her and put her down. We've fallen into a perfect 3 hourly rhythm of food,.play, sleep.  And she's amazing at night.

Should I be keeping my 4 week old awake during the day???
