Opinions please?

Before anyone comments, I'd just like to say that I'm not looking for attention, or trying to cause a ruckus. I am merely looking for advice💗Thank you ladies.
    I am 14, and I have a close friend who is 17. I trust him and I know he is a good person who just wants the best for me. But lately I've been having feelings for him, and I think he may have feelings for me, too. I'm just really unsure about the whole thing because, he's older, and my mom doesn't approve. I know I sound like some immature, irresponsible teen right now,😅 but I don't want to be with him for the wrong reasons. I'm not looking to loose my virginity or do bad things, I just really want to be with him because of who he is. He's honest, a good person, and someone I know who is going to respect me.
   Am I being totally irrational😆? I'm a straight A student and I'm very responsible. I just know that my mom doesn't approve of him.... Please help🙏🏼Thankyou!

Let your mom get to know the guy even invite his parents over for dinner. Maybe if she sees him the way you do her opinion might change.

Hello Gracie! I was in your shoes when I was 14 as well. I was dating a guy who was 4 years my senior (and from another county too!). I didn't tell my mom anything about him because I didn't feel close enough to do so at the time, but she eventually caught on because of all the minutes I was blowing through on my phone plan talking to him (we dated for 3 years). I think part of the reason my mom was super concerned was because I was hiding him, and she admitted she just wanted to make sure I was being safe and not being forced to do anything I didn't want to do. So I think it's great that you are able to talk to your mom about these things and be open with her. I like the diner idea someone suggested, and I also think maybe sharing the thoughts you have in this post would be helpful as well (as in letting your mom know you're not thinking about/ready for anything serious or becoming physical, but that you do care about this person and he shows he cares about you, and that he never pressures you into anything). Also saying that you don't want to hide your friendships/relationships from her, and you hope that you can be open with her without any judgement. You want to keep her in the loop! I think that will help put her mind at ease :) Also try to demystify him- tell her about him (hopefully there's a lot of good stuff to say!) and his family so she gets a sense of why you like him so much. Hope all this wasn't too overwhelming haha. Good luck! 💕
