Help please! I don't have a dad to do a father daughter dance at my wedding reception. Can I just eliminate doing a father daughter and mother son dance?

My dad left when I was 5 years old. And I'm not close to my grandpa. Dancing with him would feel soo uncomfortable. Can I just eliminate doing a father daughter dance & mother son dance at my wedding reception?? Any advice  or anyone else go through this too?? Help please

At my wedding, I did a mother daughter dance. It was a hit. Do whatever you want. It's your day. You are the one who matters. And of course the future hubby! lol congrats!

You can eliminate it but maybe consider a dance with your mom? Or maybe an uncle that really impacted your life? I think the mother son dance is sweet and same with father daughter or mother daughter but they're not needed, no. And people would surely understand why you decided against doing it. But your mom might be thrilled to have a dance with you.

If there is a male relative or friend that you are close with, who may have had a positive impact on you growing up, you could ask them to dance with you! Maybe even walk you down the aisle. Or, if you're close to your mother, walk/dance with her.

It's your wedding! Do what you want! I invited my dad, but don't have much of a relationship with him. He left right after we got done with pictures and started dinner. We just had the first dance and let everyone dance from there!

Yah why not. It's your wedding. Or you could have someone else your close with in your family do it. An uncle or cousin or even a really old close friend you want to share a memory with. I believe that the dance is mostly to symbolize how far you've come in life and that can be shared with anyone.
