contractions

I'm due 9/23. I went into the hospital this morning with what I thought were contractions averaging 3-6 minutes apart for 2 hours. Basically sent home due to no progression being told I was in early labor. Went to my OB appointment this afternoon at 4:15. She did a 2nd membrane sweep. Told me I was 2.5cm dilated. Contractions started up again at 5:15 averaging 6-8 minutes apart and much more intense then the morning. At 11:15 contractions started much more intensely. Woke me up out of my sleep. They've been occurring on average 3-5 minutes. It's now 1am. I called L&D to see if I should come in and was basically told make a judgement call of my own. I've had to breathe through most of them. A few have had me cry out in pain. Should I head into L&D ladies? FTM.
