Baby's Important Documents?

So FTM here and I was just curious on how you have to apply for your baby's social security card and birth certificate. Do they have the applications at the hospital or do you have to go to pick them up beforehand?

They usually have the forms you need at the hospital. They gave me the form for a birth certificate and I got the social card in the mail.

I think it depends on the state.
In WI they come in the mail after 4-6w. The hospital does the power work for you with your permission
