question about hospital bag? and bleeding after giving birth?

I just packed my hospital bag. I wanted to know is it really necessary? My family seem to think I'm doing too much and don't need one. My second question is how heavy do you bleed after pregnancy? Is it like a normal period or is it heavier? Bc I packed regular pads and maxi pads. Also are you suppose to take your breast pump to the hospital?

You should be provided pads, they are the biggest pads you'll ever see, lol. Also, at full term our bodies have double the amount of blood flowing through us, so we have to lose that somehow, you'll lose a lot of the clots during birth, but I would purchase the largest pads at yr local store, with wings! And puppy pads to put in yr bed for when you come home. And you definitely need a bag for hospital, Google some images of "checklist for hospital bag"

I didn't even think to bring pads but the hopsaital should provide you with them and hospital underwear I had a c section I bled quit a bit and the underwear is very comfy especially with the incision from the c section. I think you bleed pretty heavy with vaginaly too I've heard. And I brought maternity cloths since I was still pretty swollen

You don't need to bring your own pads, the hospital will provide you with disposable underwear, pads and ice packs. The first couple of days the bleeding is pretty heavy with some clots. I would pack something comfy to wear, like 2 nursing tops and leggings, and something to sleep in with easy access to the boobs if you plan to breastfeed. Otherwise you might want a cardigan, socks, and some slipper. The Hospital should provide basic Toiletries, so maybe just your face wash and some lotion. Hairties are a must and I would definitely pack some nursing pads and lanolin. The hospital should provide a breastpump if you need one. I also brought my boppy pillow which was pretty helpful for trying out different nursing positions. Otherwise you just need to pack some outfits for the baby.

Oh I would ask the hospital bout the breast pump not sure bout that one I didn't order mine til after I had my son but I'm guessing it would be ok

I didn't take my pump... & I bleed way heavier than a normal period.  They provide very large pads while your there if you don't have your own.

You want to be comfortable. Having some of your own things.. Like clothes.. Is better. You won't be there long (unless complications or csection), but better safe than sorry. You don't want to wear a hospital gown the entire time. You want something comfy to go home in.

Don't worry about the pump. If you need one, the hospitals can provide one for the time you are there. Do bring your own toiletries (shampoo, lotion, etc). Pads if you don't want the hospital ones..

Oh and get some flip flops and some no slippy socks.
