am I going to be pregnant forever?

Exactly one week from today is my due date and no progress at the doc... 80% effaced 0cm dilated but I've been that since I was 36 weeks. Should I give up hope that he will be here at/near my due date? I know there's always the chance of my water breaking but that's a small chance.. Lemme know!

I had ZERO signs of labor the day before my son was born.  My water broke at 330 am and he was born the next day.  It was completely shocking because I wasn't dilated or effaced at all at the last appointment I'd had..  there's not always signs that labor is happening soon. 😀

This is exactly why we don't check any of this in the uk as till you are in labour dilating slightly means nothing. You could go into labour anytime so don't let the fact your not dilated bother you. It just creates anxiety all these unnecessary checks.

I'm due in a week, too! I'm getting checked for the first time tomorrow. I think it's really helped mentally not getting checked until this point. I'd prbly be going crazy. I don't think we will be pregnant forever... hopefully. 😂

Due the 26th, 2cm 40% effaced and her head is at like -3 for lightening. I have no early labor signs and I'm impatient as hell! 3 more days.

I'm in the same boat... due the 28th, cervix is high & closed and 50% effaced. Baby is making no progress towards entering this world... I've began coming to peace with the fact that I believe my September Baby is going to become an October baby!

Early checks can't tell you anything about when you will go into labor, so don't worry! Also, there's nothing abnormal or unhealthy about going past your estimated due date 2 weeks or even more (though I know it's hard to be patient--I'm 1 day overdue currently). The average pregnancy is 40+5, and first babies are usually later than that.  70% of pregnancies (that aren't induced) go past the EDD. 
Also, water breaking is the first sign of labor only about 10% of the time; it's far more common for it to break much later in active labor, and it's even possible for the baby to be born with the amniotic sac intact.

I know it's hard to be patient, but your body knew how to grow this baby and take care of it, and it knows how and when to give birth. No woman has ever been pregnant forever :)

My dd is in two days. This morning I was 0% effaced, cervix closed and high up, baby's head still high up. Just remember there is always someone worse off :D

I was eleven days overdue when I had my son and my labor started out of the blue. No precursor symptoms or anything. I felt like I was going to be pregnant forever and then woke up the next day to contractions. It'll happen, mama!

Dont worry it will happen eventually. My due date was yesterday 22nd and I gave birth today 23rd at 140PM(Kuwait time)
