Should I tell my mom?

Should I be afraid to tell my mom I'm having sex? I'm 18 and thinks she'll freak out if she finds out.I always have safe sex and I'm on birth control. Should I tell her or continue to keep it a secret?

It honestly depends on how she reacts to other things. Both of my sisters had done stuff before I even thought about it like going to parties and drinking and having sex, my mom was mad about my older sister, more okay with it when it happened with my younger sister, and didn't really have a reaction with me except shocked that I was even having sex when I used to be the one to cringe when people said the word sex lol but if your mom has bad reactions to even small things like if you didn't do a chore or if you failed a class, I would keep it a secret till maybe you move out. You're also 18 so she can't be completely pissed off but if you're living with her, she could freak out and want you to move out if she overreacts a lot

I'm 38 I learned In the 5th grade I could not tell my mother squat. She flips out and over reacts to everything and loves reminding constantly of every mistake you have ever made. Some moms are cool with things. Other are psycho. I always wished it would be like tv that you could talk about anything. Never gonna happen with her. She can't handle it. She almost dropped her face in her soup from shock that I started drinking at 12. Needless to say I have never told Her I was pregnant or had a miscarriage and I probably never will. Most people don't know.  Some things you just have to keep to yourself.

I mean I'm 20 and I tell my mom stuff like that, but we are super close. We have a really good relationship bc we don't really keep secrets from each other.

Its up to you. I mean my mom was upset that I didn't tell her I was sexually active but she just wanted to make sure I was being safe and all. So its your choice.
