Gaining weight

Kiri
When did you start gaining weight. I eat little amounts often and I'm trying to eat more dense veggies and things like that now that I can cook without fainting 😂 but I can't gain weight for the life of me? Is the fairly normal? I have a obvious bump but haven't gained anything. When did you start gaining weight? Or did you? And how much ish, with your first successful pregnancyI see an ob on Friday so if he's happy I'm okay, I'm just wondering so I can prepare. Thanks all.

I lost 3 lbs in the first trimester. I didn't start gaining until midway through my 2nd trimester. I'm in my 3rd now (29 weeks), and I've gained 12 lbs total. I've always been active and fit, perfect weight for a woman my height and age. Baby is right on target though! He's exactly in the 50 percentile! 😃

I lost 15 lbs in my first trimester because I couldn't eat anything the entire time. I didn't start gaining weight until I was about 18 weeks. I'm now 24 weeks. I've gained about 8lbs back from the 15 I lost. I read on What to Expect that you should gain about 1lb every 2 weeks or so in the second trimester.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm also 160 so not considered small at all hah but I was 224 as a teen so without fitness and good food I know I can gain it fast, trying to find the happy medium not worrying about gaining lots. It not worrying about not gaining much either.

Does that make sense? You are not really gaining the weight. It's perfectly healthy for the weight to just be baby and fluids. A 15lb weight gain for an entire pregnancy is totally healthy. Don't worry about it too much. Your doctor will tell you if you need to gain more or if there's an issue.

It's totally possible to only gain baby and fluids. They say for every pound the baby is, double it and you have the weight of the placenta and other fluids that come along with pregnancy. So if the average baby is 6-9lbs that would be 12-18lbs of "weight gain" but that doesn't mean you gained...
