Positive Natural Birth After Induction Stories?

Anyone have them?

I'm feeling bummed after having planned for a natural birth for the last 9 months and now looking at an induction.

Any tips or strategies from mamas who have successfully done it before??

Dont stress about it, relax and just go with the flow, is the best advice i can give.

I was induced the day of my 40 week check, my bp was high (had happened before a few times but it wouldn't go back down this time), doc sent me to hospital and blood tests showed i had hypertension so they induced me that night. It really wasn't that bad. I was already dialated 2cm and fully effaced, so i didn't need any prep for my cervix. They broke my waters which just felt a bit weird - didn't feel it at all, but it kinda feels like your peeing yourself and cant stop, and your stuck laying in it until bubs head is down (they keep their hand up there till the head is down because you dont want the cord to slip out at all, if it does its an 🚨emergency c-section). About half hour later they started the oxytocin drip. And half hour later i felt contractions in my back starting. It only took 2 hrs after starting the drip to reach pushing stage. This was my first baby, so i cant compare contractions to a natural labour, but they were pretty intense and close together. But by the time i felt i couldn't cope, i was already pushing. I will suggest that you try and keep upright while labouring if you can, i had a lay down when the first contractions started, and after they picked up i couldn't get up off my back. But overall i cant complain about my labour, and i wouldn't have a problem doing it again. I really think that if your stressing about induction, you'll have a harder time with it, and that the more you relax the easier it is for your body to do what it needs, and the pain is easier to cope with. Remember that you have choices on how you are induced! You call the shots mama, if possible avoiding pitocin is the best way to avoid pain medication. Any induction can make labor more intense but pitocin is know to really make labor difficult. Ask about/research cervidil. I was induced on cervidil and a few small(!!) doses of cytotec started Monday night with a cervidil over night and water broke on its own at 12 Wednesday. Once my water broke my contractions starts RIGHT away very hard and very fast. I went from nothing to full blown active labor. This was very hard to grasp and i chose to have a dose of IV nubain(narcotic) I was able to relax and practice my hypnobirthing. When I was using the hypnobirthing the pain basically melted away, when I was distracted the pain came back. I made is the rest if my labor with no more pain meds and had my son at 6:26 that night. In my case it was a medically necessary induction but we had time to let things play out as "naturally" as we could. If you have the time, patients is key. It may take a few days but it can be worth it to avoid "the cascade of interventions" which tends to fallow pitocin. I HIGHLY recommend hiring a doula, like I can't say enough how important having a doula is. Statically we (I am one) are shown to lower csection and epidural rates along with other interventions.

I attached a picture of me hypnobirthing through transition (about 4 hours after the meds so they were worn off) which is 8-10cm also considered the hardest part of labor. It can be done mama! (And my baby when he was a newborn because he's cute)😍

Thank you so much ladies! The induction is medically necessary otherwise I wouldn't consider it at all. I'm going to push for as gentle an induction as possible with pitocin as the last resort. I'm fortunate to have a wonderful doula who will encourage me through! My confidence has been rebuilt! 😊
