Pain but not contracting

40+4 and going slightly mad. As with most other nights for the past two weeks I'm up most of the night with pain. Lower tummy period cramping and the feeling that baby is burrowing down, sometimes like she is really headbutting my cervix. The pain can be really bad and take my breath away. No show yet, no waters. Last check she was 2/5 engaged. Question is, will all this period like cramping be doing anything dilation wise? Or is it just her moving down? I have this keeping me awake almost every night and need to hope that it'll at least be achieving something! Would love to not be induced but don't see this ever progressing into labour 😕
