late period negative test

I have never been late on my period in my whole life, I was supposed to start my period and I was a week and a couple days late, I took a couple tests and they were negative, I went to the bathroom today and I started my period, could I just be spotting or do you think this is my actual period? Me and my bf have been trying to have a baby and this is the first time Iv ever been late and then started a week and a half late! Comments? Suggestions? Could I be pregnant?
