Fibromyalgia???

Does any mama's or mama's to be have fibro out there? If so, is pregnancy harder (more complications, etc)?

Not sure how old this is but I'll answer anyway. I was pretty well controlled prior to pregnancy but have had a big increase in pain since about 10 weeks. It's still not as bad as it was before I got it under control. I'm fixing to start my 3rd trimester and I don't know how the extra weight by the end of the pregnancy is going to make me feel. I've heard for some people, the pain goes away during pregnancy but for others it gets a bit worse. From what I've read, labor is not more painful for fibro patients than other women but the post partum period tends to be a lot worse. I'm planning on having a lot of help after I deliver the baby because I know it might take me a while to feel ok.

So far my Fibromyalgia has been very good to me this pregnancy. I'm 31 weeks. I have so days that I flare, like today but overall I have forgotten I have Fibromyalgia. Before my pregnancy I had flares every 2-3 weeks lasting 3-4 days at a time on different medications. I haven't taken any medication during my pregnancy, other than Tylenol for my migraines.

My fibro has steadily become worse during pregnancy. I am now 34 weeks with twins and I am struggling severely. My consultant has said I am to have a cesarean at 35 weeks due to how much I am struggling. However other than that little glimmer of the end of pregnancy being in sight I have not had any help or support medically wise throughout my entire pregnancy. Before I became pregnant I was told to stop all fibro Meds apart from setrilline and have been told that I have to just power through. However at 7 months pregnant I was having a major  flare and my consultant said amatriptaline was safe if on low dose. However my GP then refused to prescribe it. It seems as long as babies are OK  (which at the end of the day is what we all want more than anything) the pregnant ladies pain does not matter.  I even went to the maternity assessment unit with my sever pain. Once they had monitored the babies I was told to go home as babies are fine. Once again being ignored about the pain I was in and told to take paracetamol. Anyone with fibro will understand that paracetamol does not even touch the pain. A tube of smarties would be more effective as at least they would taste good!  It's sad that the woman carrying baby with severe fibro pain goes without help.
