Contractions for days

Have any of you ladies experienced this? I'm 36w4d I've been in the hospital for 8 weeks due to BP issues. I'm scheduled to be induced Thursday. But the past 24 hours I've had contractions every 5min. They are strong enough to take my breath away. The nurses called my doctor and she came and my dilation hadn't changed. She wants me to sit it out and see if I start to progress on my own. I'm exhausted with zero energy. They keep giving me sleeping meds cause the doctor wants me to rest up. She said it could happen any day if not I'll be induced Thursday. Have any of you dealt with having contractions for days before it becoming "active" labor? What did you do to not think of them. I'm exhausted already.
