Spankings. Yes or no?

Are spankings ok? I went out with my friends to Olive Garden and we got into discussion about children and a couple of my friends say that spankings are abuse..I remember getting bruises after spankings and never doing what I earned the spankings for ever again 😂 I also am expecting a baby girl in a couple months so what do you guys recommend? Are spankings necessary or abuse?

I'm pro spanking, more people should have been.  I'm also for letting your kids learn and experience things for themselves instead of being super over protective and never letting them do anything

Studies have been done on spanking kids. It has minimal effect on improving a child's behavior. It can make them behave worse, or try to hide things they have done wrong instead of owning up to mistakes. It has been linked to children who develop anxiety disorders and depression later in life, and become less trusting of their parents.

You can discipline a kid without the need for violence. Talk to them about what they did wrong and how they need to own up and correct that mistake, not just hit them a few times and send them on a time out.

It's wrong to be violent towards your significant other (without consent of course), so why would you do it to your kid, who is clearly a lot more vulnerable?

I'm all for spanking, provided both people involved are consenting adults. I don't spank children. I have no need to spank in order to discipline or teach different behavior.

I don't think they're abuse. As long as you're not hitting hard enough to really hurt or leave marks. My mom spanked me a few times when I was little and she never hit hard, just hard enough to scare me. People have other opinions but my husband agrees that if needed he will spank our son, and he is by no means a violent or abusive guy.

Im definitely for it up to a certain age. From my experience the only people against it were getting spanked up until an older age where actually talking & other disciplines should work
