Birth control

For someone who has not lost their virginity, what is the best form of birth control? I'm almost 19 and my boyfriend and I are both ready. We want to be safe. I've heard of taking pills but I'm not sure exactly where I could get them. I don't have an adult to help me with these things. I already have condoms but I'm simply just curious.
