dilated?!

Question

Sorry I post so much buuuuutttt-- yesterday (Tuesday) I went to my 38 week appointment and she checked my cervix. She said I was 2cm dilated & 50% effaced. What does this mean? I asked her but she didn't explain very well. I know it doesn't mean I'll go into labor like, tomorrow or anything but do you think I'll make it to my due date? (Oct 18). Does it mean labor is coming soon? Sorry for all the questions. I'm not having any leaking of fluid or anything & I average maybe 2 contractions a day, other days more but nothing crazy. I was just curious as this stuff is kind of confusing to me.

With all of mine I was at least a 2 by 38 weeks and I went overdue with them all. My 4th I was 3 cm at 39 weeks and had her at 40+1. There is still a good chance you'll make it to your due date. It does show of course that your body is preparing, which is a plus 🙂

I've been 2cm 50% effaced since 30 weeks...I'm 33 weeks now. I'm on bed rest though so I'm not doing anything to help the process.  But you can definitely make it to your due date or you may not.  There's no way to really tell.  If you loose your bloody show you will probably deliver soon. Good luck! You're almost there!
