Yes, The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all babies receive routine vitamin D supplementation (400 IU per day) due to decreased sunlight exposure and an increase in rickets. If your baby is exclusively breast fed you yourself can take vitamin D supplements and then transfer it to your baby through your breastmilk. Most pediatricians will recommend 6400 IU /day. The bottle I have at home comes in 2000 IU/capsules so I'm taking 3 per day to get the recommended amount. The white pimples are a natural occurrence in newborns. They are called Milia and are caused by blocked oil glands on your baby's skin and face. These will go away eventually once the baby's oil glands enlarge and open up.
Vitamin D for your newborn
Has your pediatrician told you to give vitamin d to your newborns? If so, which one are you using? I got her Enfamil's and it is may be giving her tiny white pimples around her neckline and some on her forehead. I saw it happen to some on Amazon.
