past due. sept30. should I be worried? hurricane on the way.

Hi, I live in south Florida and hurricane is on the  way. Hospital will not admit me Thursday & Friday. I'm suppose to be induced Friday but my Doctor had a little fight with the nurse Because they are not accepting any patients for induction. If I go in early and decide to stay I have to bring my own food water blanket own mattress or whatever it is to sleep on the floor & will not be treated as a patient. Right now I am 40 weeks and 5 days and Friday I will be 41 weeks, if I am induced Saturday if hurricane is all clear, it will be 41+1. I hope my baby going to be okay in there.

I'm going through something very similar. I live in Volusia county Florida and am delivering in Orlando which I'd a hour away. I was scheduled for my induction on Friday but got a call saying all inductions are moved to Saturday. I'm a bit angry because the reason for my induction was gestational diabetes. The doctor told me it is more dangerous to go over 39 weeks because of risk of stillbirth. So instead of moving me to Wednesday or Thursday before the hurricane they are waiting till after which puts me over my 39 week mark. I'm nervous because by period I'm 39 weeks tomorrow but by ultrasound I was 39 weeks 2 days ago. I hate hurricane Matthew right now!!!!!

Was due September 29th and I live in South Florida too.  I begged my doctor to induce tonight as I'd rather be there instead of having to drive there if something happens.  Still waiting to find out but this is just adds more anxiety to an already stressful situation.  Hang in there, we can do this!

If your doctor doesn't believe you aren't healthy enough to carry until 41 weeks, she would have scheduled you to be induced earlier. Trust what he/she says. I was due on October 4th and my scheduled induce date is 41 + 1. Granted it's 1 am on 41+1, I trust my doctor is making the right decision.

What's scary is you're in the midst of a hurricane... I would definitely question my doctor about what to do in case you go into labor before then. Prayers to you and your baby.

40 weeks here and my midwife suggested I go to Northshore to have a stay during the hurricane as hurricane pressure can induce labor in term mothers.  I opted to stay in the comfort of my own home as I am planning a home birth anyway and I refuse to be on a hospital floor when I have my comfortable bed at home.  Typically a pregnancy can last up to 42 weeks so you should be safe.  Now if you're high risk I wouldn't risk it and would stay at the hospital as paramedics DO NOT operate in storms but if you're having a low risk healthy pregnancy I'd say stay home.
