I don't see the point. I've waited and wanted this baby for so long I'm not going to risk it for a few sips of wine. There will be plenty of time after baby is born to have all the wine I want.

For anyone who gets seriously upset about someone choosing to have some wine or beer, I'd like to remind you that all of us are most likely the products of women who drank alcohol while pregnant. Maybe not our moms but centuries ago it was often more dangerous to drink water than something fermented and therefore slightly alcoholic

Also, many advice around pregnancy are based on very poor studies because it's hard to do super scientific research given the test subjects. You can't exactly have one group of pregnant women drinking lots in a lab to see where the threshold is. So, I highly advise everyone read the book "expecting better" for a really good analysis of all kinds of decisions we have to make. It covers foods that are safe to eat, medications, and various labor topics too.

My dr actually suggested a glass of red wine every week or so to help my iron levels.

Id say no. Not worth the risk of FAS. Maybe alcohol free wine, though?

My doctor said 4oz of beer or wine is fine! No liquor though! She did say that you should stop if you feel flushed or tipsy though. I have a few sips of beer or wine like twice a month tops!
