I have a friend with a little girl who will be 3 in February. Her name is Bella, she has curly hair, but not too curly. It's about medium. Anyways, she straightens Bella's hair like 3 times a week because she thinks it looks cuter. Is it inappropriate to straighten a 2 year olds hair on a regular basis like that?

That is bizarre to me, and makes me a little sad. As someone with curly hair, I know a lot of us have to learn to love what we have, and it seems like her mother is already working on giving her a complex. 😒 It's also not healthy for the hair, and likely will damage it. But, there's really not much you can do. It is her daughter, and that is her choice.

It could possible alter her hair in the future. I used to have wavy hair, and after straightening it every day for three years ( in middle school ) it lost its wave.

It's not "messed up" but yes it could alter her hair, as it is her daughter no one has a say but her so I mean that's gonna be on her if her daughter grows up to have bad hair because it was always straightened.

It's not a great way to install positive body image to a little girl. She's going to grow up thinking curly hair is ugly and has to be fixed. Just my opinion. But I think this little girl should be taught to love her curls and the rest of her body at a young age. Like I said just my opinion. Each to their own.

Idk. Is it different than curling a daughters hair? Don't lots of moms do that? A cpl times a week seems like a lot of effort and probably isn't healthy for her hair though.

I think it's weird personally.. plus how will that baby girl feel that her mother is changing her natural beauty?

Curls are cute and can be far easier to maintain than straightening.
