I think this would be situational depending on the child's age and if the adoption was open or closed.

I suppose it depends on how old the child is. If it was a newborn or baby i would probably change it but if the child was older i would proba ly just talk to them about it and if they wanted to change it or keep it we could decide together.

Depends on child's age. If the child is a baby then yes 100% if they were older and new their name already then no.  But no mater what I would change their last name and maybe middle name change or give them one.

I would change the last name because, well, they're family. If they were a baby I might change the first name, but if they're older I'd leave it up to them. Some might have come from a bad home and don't want anything to do with their past and if that's the case then I'd let them change it so they won't be reminded of those pains. But if they're happy with their name then I'm happy.

We knew a family who adopted a five year old boy whose name was Holten. Of course they gave him their last name, and HE insisted that he change his first name also. So he chose Samuel and they eventually legally changed it for him! Any time someone would accidentally call him Holten, he either wouldn't respond at all until they said "Samuel!" Or he would say "who's Holten?"
So I think it depends on how old the child is!

It depends on the age of the child... newborn yes I would change the name, but maybe consider the given name by the biological mother as a middle name? To honour her gift to me 💕 if the child was a toddler and answering to his/her given name I wouldn't change it. :) I would change the last name though

I would change both depending on the age, a baby both names, older than that just the last

My nan was adopted when she was 3. Her name got changed from Diana to Joan, and she HATED it. So no for me.
