Do you know the difference between influenza, a cold, and "stomach flu"?

Flu season is here. I see a lot of people saying that they had the flu or this or that. Just wanted to see what everyone's definition of flu is since I think, to different people it can mean different things.

Most people relate the flu to a "stomach flu" because when most people get the flu/influenza (which is respiratory) their immune system is at a low and they're susceptible to (and end up) catching a stomach virus.

To me, having the flu means I'm not getting out of bed for 4 days. Shivers, shakes, headaches, hot flushes, freezing cold, temperatures... a cold is, get on with my business, ain't no runny or blocked nose gonna slow me down. I've never had stomach flu so I don't know what to say for that one!

I've always called stomach bugs (vomiting and feeling terrible) the "flu". a cold is runny nose, sore throat, headache, aches and pains.

Through my life I've managed to get all of them. Even H1N1. So unfortunately I know the difference. We even caught the stomach bug twice this year.

It may sound strange but I don't think me and my husband were this sick before having children. Now it seems one of the kids catch it somehow and then the sickness spreads through the whole family!
