What should my pay rate be?

I currently nanny for 2 children for the past 2 years and mom is pregnant with #3!! 
I get paid 15$ right now(before tax 😢) and I do everything around the house. Laundry, dishes, groceries, cooking, sweeping, dusting, disinfecting, organizing etc

The parents want me to help out with the newborn when he/she arrives (obviously they're a lot of work!!) 
But none of us have done this before so they aren't sure what to pay me now and asked me what I thought would be fair.

I was thinking 20$ because 3 kids and a house is a lot of work and while the 2 older ones are easy who knows how their behavior will be when the baby arrives and a newborn needs a lot of TLC. I looked online and people and websites were saying 16$ but that is NOT enough in my opinion.

What would you be willing to pay/ think is fair for all that work?

Also the parents both make 6 figures so this is a luxury they can certainly afford.

Honestly you deserve more than $20 if you do all that. An average cleaning lady gets $20. That's crazy I know people who get at least $40 an hour to do all that stuff along with nannying. Don't be afraid to ask for more.

You're both a nanny and a maid basically so I'd be asking for at least $30-40 if I were you.

I was a live-in nanny for five kiddos. I was paid $600 every two weeks. The three older kids went to school and I had the two year old twins at home. I did do after-school care for all five and worked a lot of weekends. I did cleaning and all that. I feel I should have been paid more BUT I didn't have to pay for room and board. Are you living with them? If not, I'd say $20/hr is good. They have the convenience to not send their kids to daycare. They get more one-on-one time along with saving a TON of money. You need to tell them what you want to be paid otherwise they will obviously pay the minimum. You need to set hours and have a list of what exactly they want your help with...especially with the newborn. I'd give them a pay rate and ask to sit down and have a contract in place. It will be easier on both of you!

Dang I chose the wrong profession 😂 I just barely make 20/hr (including commission...without its less than 17/hr) and I work full time as an office administrator in charge of payroll for 100+ people 😞 and before that I worked at a daycare center and sometimes had to take care of 4 infants at a time under 1yr (by myself)....or also take care of a little boy who was blind and had to be fed via a tube in his stomach in a room with 5 other 2-3yr olds...and didn't even make 12/hr and wasn't eligible for a pay raise cause I "made too much". So I left to do something else. 
But clearly I've chose the wrong career paths in life based on these rates!! 😦

Wow.. Like thats a lot of money I need to go find a job as a nanny.. I work as a loan administrator.. I make 18 per hour but if you throw commissions it can bump it up to 25 to 30 per hour but some weeks my commission will be bad. I like what I do but I see people saying 40 an hour shoot that's bomb get it girl

I would say ATLEAST 18.. Minimum. I am a nanny for a 13 month old and occasionally a 3 year old. (She's in school during the day during my shift) I prepare dinner for the night nanny and do jobs around the house like laundry, organizing toys, clothes, etc, and occasionally cleaning the house. I make $15. Definitely talk to them about something closer to $20!

I'd be asking at least $40  an hour I am in no means a nanny or knw what they make but even 20 an hour seems way to little to being taking care of a newborn, kids, and a house all at the same time! Every nanny I knew made better money being a nanny than using their graduate degrees so if your getting paid that little something is already wrong with your pay rate.

Where do you live? The area makes a huge difference. I'm in the Bay Area (CA) and I used to nanny 2 kids and barely did housework and got $20/hour. But I know people that did 3 kids and housework and got $25-35/hour.
