My birth story... induce with complications
Well throughout my pregnancy everything was pretty good. This being my 5th pregnancy I thought that everything would go smooth. Only had one epidural with my first child and induced once with my third child. I have had one bad experience with an epidural so I didn't want that and had a rough experience with being induced. So with that being said I I thought that I wouldn't need to get neither. Call my due date came and went... I was so uncomfortable and by the time I was 40 weeks and 6 days they scheduled an induction and I was ready. I got to the hospital at 6:30, started the pitocin around 7:30 a.m. around 11am I was around 3-4cm. Around 1pm I was 5cm and was in so much pain I thought I couldn't take it anymore so I asked for epidural but because my contractions were so close together every time I would have a contraction the only way I was somewhat comfortable was on all four. The nurse said before they gave me an epidural they needed to hydrate me which took about 20 to 30 minutes or so it felt like to me when they called the anesthesiologist I was in position but couldn't stay still. When the nurse checked me again I was 10 cm. I was told to lay on my back which was unbelievably painful due to the fact I was having back labor as well as the position the baby was in. But I did and I pushed for 15-20 minutes and my son's head came out but I was pushing and his shoulder was stuck behind my public bone and won't come out... it's a complication called shoulder dystocia!!! So the doctor had to reach in underneath his head and grabbed his shoulder... it was very painful and the Dr said if I have any more kids I would most likely have to get a C-section... I believe it was due to you having to get induced as well as the fact that my son was 9 lbs10 oz... It was scary because he wasn't getting any Oxygen for 90 seconds but he is doing great and I'm OK.
