selecting godparents

I've always known I want my best friend to be the only godmaother for my children--I'm godmother to her two children. The problem is choosing a godfather. My husband doesn't have a male best friend or family member that would be a natural selection. Should we choose my bestie's husband? Or is that somehow unfair to my hub--like I'm trying to dominate our child's life with my friends? He has some close male friends, but I don't want their wives to assume they get godmother duty.
