Ladies of the UK! dilation?!

So on this app I'm reading a lot of women that know how far dilated they are early on! Am I right in saying we don't get that info in the uk from midwifes until you are past your due date? I am 38+3wks and have no such info. Is this the same case with everyone else?

I wish that's how they did things here in the US... I feel like getting checked kind of ruins things. Especially if you're not progressing... it can be discouraging and stressful 😕 I feel like these checks have nothing to do with when you'll actually go into labor or anything like that... they can only make an estimated guess

No information of dilation or anything like that from my midwife here in the U.K., but a friend of mine knew at 38 weeks that she was 2cm dilated, but she was a high risk pregnancy... I'm 40 weeks on the 27th and I'm really hoping something will happen before then as I can't take the backache and twinges and cramps anymore. 😐

Same! No idea how dilated or effaced I am, midwife won't do an exam til my due date!

Nope no checks here either!!  they tend not to do it until you go into labour as it can introduce infection!  I get all my info from one born every minute Haha!! You'll learn plenty, give it a watch xxx

Same here, due in 4 days and no idea! Midwife said you have zero internal interference in the UK until you are in labour/need sweeps etc as it can be an unecessary infection risk. Fair comment, knowing how dilated you are/n't won't change your date, so why bother?

Yep! No info from midwives at all regarding dilation. I'm 40 weeks on the 29th. Been having the aches and pains for the past two days but desperately want something to happen soon. 😩

I have no idea what I am either! I was at the Midwife on Wednesday, got myself all prepared to be checked and she didn't even bother. Just booked me an appointment with her for the day after my due date to give me a sweep 😳

When you reach your 40 week appointment they offer a sweep and write down how dilated you are. I am 41 weeks, unfortunately she couldn't do a sweep as my cervix was too far back so I'm booked in again tomorrow to try again! 8 days late now and I'm going insane 😩

They will only check and/or do sweep if you are 40weeks. I had one on my due date and it just depressed me as 0cm. :-( got another one tomorrow but not looking forward to the pain.
