How do you discipline your children?

Spanking works and ever since it became judged & frowned upon is when society started becoming overrun with little asshole entitled children.

I will use a mixture of the options depending on the severity of the misbehavior. Thankfully in my DDs 7yrs I've only had to spank her twice as most of the time other options work but sometimes a quick smack on the hand is needed to stop her doing something dangerous.

I was spanked as a kid but my parents always explained what I did wrong, how I disobeyed and how they still loved me but needed to discipline me. It really made me think twice about talking back or acting out and as I got older, I didn't have the issues I saw others had with respecting my elders/parents. Also, they never hit me in the face. Only my bum.

I would like to apologize, I made this poll. I did not mean to insult anyone by using the term "hitting", I did not mean it to imply abuse. I meant smacking another area other than the butt. To me, a "spanking" is only on the butt. I now realize I should've used another term. I apologize and I hope you guys can excuse me for that.

We do both but mainly take away privileges. My hubby and I have 5 boys from 4-16yrs old so it can be challenging to say the least. But we raise our boys as we were raised, a good work ethic and politeness. All 5 kids have daily chores from taking care of chickens, loading the outdoor wood furnace and all the housework is done by them. They clean toilets, vacuum, do the dishes etc. Too many kids are handed everything these days and the sense of entitlement rules the roost. Life skills and appreciation for their material things is our job as parents to instill in them. Our boys earn electronics time by doin chores. Im not gonna hand off a needy son to my future daughter in law:)
