Am I too skinny???

Question

Hello! I will be 8 weeks tomorrow with my first. However, some people have told me that I'm too skinny to have a baby vaginally. I'm almost 21, 93lbs, and 5'2. However, I've never worn anything bigger than a size 3 in junior's pants. Right now I wear a 00. Am I too skinny to birth a baby vaginally? I've always been quite small. Another concern of mine is what if I don't gain enough weight. It's always been a challenge for me to gain weight.

Nope .. I'm 36 weeks pregnant .. pre pregnancy I weighed 109lbs .. always have had trouble gaining weight .. I'm 120lbs now .. I asked my OBGYN the same thing and she said it has to do with your pelvic bones not your weight nor frame .. she explained how some women with "child bearing hips" can't even deliver a 5lb baby vaginally due to pelvic bone issues .. so do not worry you shall be fine unless your doc tells you otherwise 😘 Congrats btw !

You're skinny, but not too skinny to have a vaginal birth! I was <100 lbs when I first got pregnant...I carried full term, and had a vaginal delivery. I'm pregnant again, and was 94 lbs when I conceived, I'm 25 weeks, and everything is so far so good...I think you'll be just fine. I will say this..I gained 35 lbs with the first and have already gained 20 with this one, so I did pack on the weight pretty good while I was pregnant. Just fyi.

I'm tiny too!!! I'm 11 weeks pregnant and weigh 99lbs. We will gain weight soon enough I'm sure ;-)  congratulations!

I'm now on my last week of pregnancy- started out being 4 feet 10 inches, and about 93-97 pounds. I'm now at 150, and most of my weight is all baby and boobs! Your hips will most likely put on some fat as well as your legs, and all of your lady curves will thicken to the point of readying your body for child birth. This was a huge fear of mine at the beginning too, but your body will adjust.

I'm 5'3" and was 85 lbs. I'm expecting my first and still look skinny at 14 weeks. My mom was 5'5" and 100 lbs. She gave birth to 3 kids all vaginally.

Nope.  My mom was 4'11" and 110lbs right before she gave birth to me.  She showed up at the hospital where they told her that she was too small to have her baby vaginally.  She refused a C-section,  pushed for 20 minutes.

My niece was your size maybe even smaller when she got pregnant at age 20. She has always been very skinny and can't gain weight no matter how much she eats. She gained a healthy 40 pounds during pregnancy and was able to deliver the baby vaginally with no complications. She dropped the pregnancy weight almost immediately and was back down below 100 pounds in no time.

You're not too skinny.. It's very natural to be smaller your first pregnancy.. in 17 weeks here. I'm 25 weeks now and finally starting to show :)

No, unless there is an issue with your pelvic born not being able to do what it needs to. being skinny won't stop you from having your baby vaginally. I was 19 when I had my first and I weighed 95lbs and I'm 5 foot 1. 00 pants sometimes were too big. And I had my son vaginally, and no issues other then some tearing.
