what is a good price?

I'm a stay at home mom but to make some extra money I'm watching my daughters cousin In law. They are currently paying me 25$ a day so that's 125$ a week ATM but they drop him off at 7 am and don't get him until 430-5 sometimes later then that. Now it's family n watever but j feel like they are taking advantage of me I feel maybe I should charge more? Any thoughts

It depends a lot on where you are. I started home childcare after moving to OR. The going rate around here is $3.50-4.00/hour even less for older children. Compared to where we used to live in the San Francisco bay area it was upwards of $20.00/hour. I charge per hour instead of a flat rate because it feels more fair to me that people only pay for hours they use and don't pay for sick days, and it is better for me because with a flat rate the more hours I work the less I am paid.

When I was a nanny 10yrs ago, I got paid $10-12/hr. I started watching my niece once i had my own lo and we decided on $5hr which is an amazing deal. Don't shortchange yourself because it's family. This way, they won't be leisurely when they puck up.

I used to watch my niece and nephew for 12 hours a day as well as taking them to school and picking them up from school and I was only paid $50 a week so I think you should definitely be happy with what your getting!!!

Where I live it's $5 an hour. $25/day minimum. So 5 hours is $25.... therefore it should be $40-45 for 8-9 hours. I would ask for more......

These are for in-home daycares though!

Thats 500 a month for one child. Looking at it from that perspective, do you not think that you are charging enough? The hours are pretty normal. Most parents are working during those hours.

How much would a nursery cost a day?
In UK our nursery is £50 a day. So paying half of that would be a reasonable amount I'd say bearing in mind you don't pay taxes or so....
If you feel is too much reduce the days a week or something

See that's what I thought cause some days they don't get him for a long time and yea it's "family " but I don't want to be used I think j might do hourly because 25$ a day is kinda crap for all the things I deal with. He's always trying to bite and smack me my daughter and my pets they never tell him no or don't touch so enough said. But I think I'll be having a talk with them to get alittle but more because I do feel used by them and I'm going to start writing down when they drop off and pick up.
