How was your HSG?

Question

Had my first fertility consultation today. Doctor said everything looks fine from the exam he did, so he ordered an HSG and some ovarian scans and blood tests. I'm curious about how the HSG went for those who have had one. Doctor says they use a new type of dye so it shouldn't be painful... but I've read some scary stories!

Do I need to be worry about it???

Mine was painless. I took Motrin bride like they told me. It honestly felt like I was peeing myself lol. Good luck !!!!!

I don't want to be a downer, but....

I took 800mg of Motrin  (4 pills) 45-60 minutes before. It didn't help. Or, if it did, heaven help me, the agony I would have had! I'm no stranger to cramping and pain in that area, but this was intense and like no other pain I've ever felt. Then they had to reposition the catheter and re-dye. Omg. Thankfully,  it was brief.

However,  after it was over, the doctor wouldn't let me sit up. She massaged my feet until I stopped looking pale and clammy. She was afraid I was going to pass out.

The whole time I just kept asking myself why I couldn't just get pregnant without having this procedure. But, as a piece of good news (a consolation prize, if you will), my tubes are both open!

Mine wasn't painful at all. The doctor doing it told me it's typically only painful for women who end up having blocked tubes. But often the test unblocks your tubes. So if you are an unlucky one to have pain it would be worth the result of unblocking your tubes. I took 2 extra strength Advil 30 mins before and it didn't hurt the slightest
