Midwives check ups??

Question

I'm a FTM and I'm on my 34 week. 
I was just wondering when do they start to check "down there" 
I just want to make sure I wear skirts or dresses instead of pants and just be ready for it.

It honestly depends on your midwifes beliefs. Some won't check until you're in labor, mine will start checking around 32 weeks due to my conditions.

My midwife doesn't check until 41 weeks or active labor, unless asked. And then she will only do it if asked, after 38 weeks. Cervical dilation has no impact and is not a prediction of when labor will start. You could be walking around at 5cm for 3-4 weeks and not be in labor, or you could be 1cm and labor might start the next day.

My midwife didn't check until 40 weeks but that was bc I asked her to. Usually they don't check until 41. Dilation doesn't show any indication of when labor will start so there's really no point

I agree with these posts. It's all up to the midwife and you. Some don't check, some check once, some more. I'd ask your midwife.

I'm in Canada and have a midwife too. I'm only in my first trimester and have only had one appointment with my midwife but she said she'd be doing a physically which includes down there at nearly every appointment. I would ask her if she can start checking.

My midwife won't check except if I ask her to. She'll check during labor though. It is not the same for every midwife.

Well you may want to ask your midwife, because I've noticed with doctors and midwives they do things slightly different.
