I accepted a new position. Job was open for about a month, I had 2 interviews and a pre employment background screening. I was told dozens had applied and it was narrowed down to myself and 2 others. I accepted the job yesterday via phone. Was told I start next Monday and would get my acceptance information Friday.

My current boss completed an employment verification this morning for them and I had put my two weeks in and my last day is Friday. Fast forward 4 hours into the work day - the new place calls me and days the owners are restructuring and phasing out this job. Might I add a job that is quite important to the production of invoicing products and keeping the money incoming. Just hours after my current employer completes this verification.

Is this not sketchy? My current boss is also HR so there is no go talk to HR option. I am not at a zero ground again and 27 weeks pregnant.
