I'd ask her for her opinion. A) I wouldn't want to upset her and B) she's probably got insight as to why she stopped talking to him. If she just want interested, great, but if there's something else (like he's a control freak or something), maybe she can save you some drama.

I kinda know how you feel, my sister liked this guy who was a friend of the family way before anyone knew me (long story) but now I met him and we started talking, I fell in love with him. What im saying is if your really happy about this guy your siter will probablu understand even if she talked to him too. Just do you girl, family is always gonna be there no matter what. Unless they hold a grudge against you and never talk to you again because of this guy, then thats just not right:/ in my opinion
