Thoughts on getting an epidural?

I got one at 8cm with my first and didn't have any issues.  This time I know if I can make it to 8cm I can do it all the way without! So I'm trying without one this time!

I had one and plan on getting it again. I dont think I should go through that pain if I don't have to. It made my labor awesome. I could feel the pressure and tightening but absolutely no pain! I feel like I was able to focus on pushing more by not being  clouded by pain. I honestly don't know how I oukd have done it without one. But its a personal choice. If you're worried about pain talk to your doc about your options and remember that the epidural has to be given at a certain time. It can end up being too late so its better to decide what you want so you can have it in your birth plan before you go to the hospital. Also I had some pain meds before I could have the epidural and they told me it would last 3 hrs. It barely lasted 30 mins.. Everyone is different but I've heard about the pain meds they give not working for any longer than an hour from almost every person I know that has used them during labor.

I tried not getting one but was having contractions for 24 hours and only at a 6, I gave in. I'm 11 weeks postpartum today and have the WORST back pain from it. Where the epidural was, my back is so stiff and by the end of the day I'm in so much pain I want to cry. If I would have known how much I would be hurting still, I wouldn't haven't gotten one.

Yes give me all the drugs! 😆😂 waited until 7cm with my first & was not able to enjoy the process at all until after I received my epidural. Smooth sailing & able to relax enough to enjoy the end of it. Everyone's different though.

Had one and loved it. I had a c section though so it's not like I could have gone without lol

I had one and had a positive experience. I'm glad I chose to get one. I was able to nap and rest before it was time to push.

I had a spinal with my c section. No issues. My back was a little sore after but I used some heat packs and it was fine.

I had one with #1 and it was amazing. This time, it will depend on how my labor is progressing. If I'm dialating fast, I may try without but if the contractions are too intense with no chance to take a breath in between then I'm getting an epidural again.
I do want to talk to the anesthetist first when time is close. I heard some people get an epidural that makes them unable to move and push. With my first, the anesthetist kept me on a dose where I got still feel the pressure and He made sure that I could move my legs at all times. He said it's important that I retain some feeling so I can push. I want the same this time.

At first I was thinking about not getting it before I found out high risk pregnancy for twins they Will be born early they won't reach 40 weeks or full term but I don't want nothing to happen to my babies so I decide to get the epidural

I am going to try to go unmedicated but if it becomes too much, I'll get an epidural. Best to keep your options open on this one because there's no telling how easy/difficult your labor may be.
