Handing less than positive sibling responses

Hi,

I would like some advice regarding handling responses from half siblings. I am 17 weeks pregnant. My partner and I told his daughter (miss 8) (from a previous marriage) last night and she broke down and bawled her eyes out. We had a feeling this was coming based on previous reactions to conversations but didn't make it feel any better.

How do we handle this? Anyone have similar experiences? It's absolutely broken my heart. I've been so sick and been made redundant at work. Everything is stressful at present and this has just pushed me over the edge (I'm sure with the help of some pregnancy hormones 😊).
