There's a New Guy in Town! Sawyer William has Arrived!

Jess • Wife, Mama to one sweet boy, & Confectionary Master. 🍭

On October 19th our little Sawyer decided to decided to make his debut at 6:57PM. After 39 hours of intense back labour, and 1 1/2 hours of pushing he made his entrance weighing 8lbs 2oz and measuring 21.5 inches long.

I had an epidural around 4cm, and had a smooth and problem free experience with it. It was such a relief when it began to work and I was able to rest. A few hours later it was time to push! Contractions began to slow down so they had to administer pitocin. After about 45 minutes the epidural began to wear off (probably because the contractions were so much stronger) and the pain was absolutely unbearable (causing me to vomit green popsicle which my husband said looked like GHOSTBUSTER SLIME lol). He was almost out when his heart rate began to drop. I heard the doctor say he would have to assist with the vacuum so with the next contraction I pushed with everything I had, and he came right out screaming!

Our first few days together have been great. I am recovering from a little 2nd degree tear and he is having trouble latching, but with the help of the breast pump and some rest, we are doing just fine :) We wished for this little one for almost four years - it's hard to believe he's finally in our arms.
