Just curious...why are babies' sizes always compared to food?

Why do all the pregnancy apps I use always compare babies to food (fruits and veggies)? Lol. It doesn't bother me, I just am curious as to why they don't use other objects to change it up and make it fun??

I also think it is because everyone's babies are approximate sizes, and so are fruits and veggies. Some lemons are bigger or smaller than others, but they're all close in size, so it is just giving you an idea of how big your baby is :)

I believe its because its the most common thing everyone knows how big an orange or a plumb is. Its just making sure on an international and educational level each woman would have an easy time telling the size based on a fruit rather.

I agree with the comments already but my husband has a pregnancy app for dads and it uses random objects to compare size. We check it every week and it makes us laugh.
