to call or not
My fiancé's daughter has come to us the last two weekends sick, the first weekend her mom told us she had been having a cough and we have the same OTC cough medicine she uses and just to give her that if needed. Got worse over the weekend, we were told she would get her seen last week. We get her Friday and she's much sicker, mom says she didn't take her cause she wasn't running fever, just coughing. She had a fever when we got her home, low grade but still.. I'm a nurse, y'all this child you can hear the congestion in her lungs without even putting a stethoscope to her chest.
Mom won't provide any information about her primary doctor to us or copies of her Medicaid cards so dad can take her to the doctor, but when it was brought up that she was much worse and needed to be seen ASAP, mom had the nerve to ask why he didn't just take her. She also doesn't have him as approved to release medical information to in her records so he couldn't anyway I don't believe.
She states they are living with her sister now, but the last address we had for the sister she says is not the correct address, but will not provide it, also by the amount of their belongings in her car it looks more like they may be living in her car instead.
We've had issues in the past her coming to us with lice repeatedly, and a few weeks ago she had a large bruise under her chin that when asked she stated that "mommy threw a phone at me", not just once but several times throughout the weekend.
I'm just wondering if we need to file a report with cps/dhs about the issues we're seeing because talking to mom gets us nowhere, places blame on us or says the child made it up. I know her enough to know though that she'll just try to keep her from us if we do report any of it, but I feel like enough is enough..
What do y'all think
