SDI in California?!

So I registered for my online account but it looks like I can't actually file a claim until after I start my leave? Is this right? So once my leave starts (I'm taking the 4 weeks before delivery) then I log on file a claim and then send my claim number to my Obs office? Anything I'm missing?

I'm also in a California in the Bay Area// With my first pregnancy I took the 4 weeks before my due date and I got 8 weeks after my due date.

Talk to your Dr first about taking 4 weeks before and your Dr will fill out the form (I believe you get the form from your employer) and submit to your job who will in return submit it to the state.

And anything after your due date for extensions will go through your Dr who has to submit to your job who will submit it to the state.

I'll have to do it by paper but yes. You can apply once you are actually on disability  (as in you can't work). Make sure to discuss it with your doctor. My doctor wouldn't put me on disability 4 weeks before my due date because I am not high risk and I am not limited in working. I had to take vacation first. I will apply once I actually have the baby (then I'm considered disabled).
