Anyone ever had a home birth ???

Question

I'm not sure whether it's to late or not to decide on a home birth but has anyone ever had one either accidental or planned ?

My other half works away and I'm paranoid he won't make it home in time. We also have a little girl and she would need taking to his sisters before I went to the hospital which is a 40 mins round trip and I just worry I won't be able to do it all and my other half can't take any time of leading up to when it could happen as he's self employed and doesn't get paid for any time of he has which we can't afford specially with the run up to xmas.

I'm even having dreams that I have the baby at home by accident and I've even got it in my head that if he can't get home I will just have to try and stay at home and deliver her myself (obviously I would call an ambulance as well) it just seems like the easier more appropriate option as won't have to mess about possibly getting my little girl out of bed at stupid o clock in the morning and distrupting everyone else as well

Any help or experience would be much appreciated

You can always get someone to pick your child up at the hospital. That's most likely what we plan on doing.

I'm having a home birth but I'm a ftm. For us it was the safest and best choice for us. We are getting a mattress cover,  my doctor brings a birthing pool and all the other supplies. The mess is easily contained from what I've read and discussed. I'm so excited to be able to be comfortable in my own home and it makes me feel more in control.

This is my forth baby and 3rd home birth. My sister and last were home birth and I enjoyed the experience more than I did with my middle one at the hospital. Most people think of the rest you get because you have nurses to help but all I wanted to do was be home and cuddle my babies I think the introduction to a new member is such a special bond and not all hospitals understand that. I'm doing a home birth! I've not done one before as this is my first baby but if you feel good about it then you should look up home birth midwives in your area. Statistically it's very very safe and easier for labor because there is no disruption (like getting in the car and driving to the hospital or filling out paperwork) so stalled labor happens significantly less and you're in a place where you already feel safe and comfortable. I've done a ton of research and read a bunch of books and my husband and I couldn't be more excited to birth our baby in the comfort of our own home. So much less stress for everyone! I would definitely look into if were I in your position.

I'm more concerned about getting to the hospital if I'm in labour and my partner isn't home I might not be able to drive there myself x
