Which IUD do you prefer?

What was your experience getting an IUD inserted like? Any advice for before the visit? 
Are the symptoms different than the symptoms from the pill??

I just got the skyla yesterday so it's still pretty fresh. When I saw it, it was pretty tiny. I had never given birth so it was a little bit of a shock for my uterus. I had port placement surgery earlier this year and a few weeks ago I had steroid injections in my si joints and this procedure hurt more than both of them combined for me. It was just wen the and opened up that it really hurt. I also have a tilted uterus so I don't know if that makes a difference. It was like a sucker punch straight to my uterus. Today so far I'm just having slight cramping and I don't know if it's because I am on my period still or from the skyla

I can't comment on skyla because I've never had it but my only options with my doctor were mirena and paragaurd. I got the mirena because my periods are actual hell and hopefully it will stop them. Plus the hormones are localized and minimal which is something I wanted. I took 1200mg or ibuprofen and ate beforehand. The procedure wasn't too bad but the sounding was 100% the worst cramp of my life, the actual insertion was like a 4 compared to that. I had about two days of bad cramps and they've been on and off for the past month plus spotting almost every day. I spotted with the pill as well. I'd suggest clearing the rest of the day and possibly the day after to just chill out after you get it and stock up on pads and liners.
